"The Game of Life", or TGoL, is a semi-realistic, post-by-post, wolf roleplay site based around a chess metaphor for a war between two packs: Light and Dark Pack,
respectively, to match the light and dark pieces on a chess board. The wolves themselves don't know anything about chess of
course, only that they are locked in a seemingly eternal battle for the rights to their thriving yet limited land. Tensions are
high, blood has been shed, and all must be careful which move they make next, for it could either ensure a victory for them or the end of everything. You, as a player, may either play a wolf
from one of the packs, directly involved with the war in some way, or a loner on the outside, either looking in, taking advantage of the distracted packs, or staying out of
it all together.

SPRING 01
The ice and snow of winter are finally starting to melt away as things warm up, making way for budding flowers, returning prey, and spring showers. Mating season is no longer in effect, but those whom did get pregnant should expect to give birth within the season, towards the beginning of Summer. Prey is steadily becoming a little more plentiful, which is good news, but all of the melting snow/ice and the spring showers are causing The Divide and Flatlands to flood, coaxing both packs to stay on their respective sides... lest they wish to get swept down stream.

history
Dolokov was one of four pups in an all-male litter, sired by a cruel and power hungry wolf known as Singe. Singe, like so many loners coming here, had entered into this prosperous land with hopes to create a powerful army and take control of everything by force; to build a mighty empire from the ground up, crowning himself as the ruler, of course. To start this mighty plan, he set out to find a relatively strong and well-bred she-wolf who would birth him his first litter, then would raise his children into strong figures of authority. However, when he finally did do this, his first litter was not so successful, only producing one pup strong enough to even live (and a scrawny, overly-submissive one at that). Seeing this, the cruel Singe merely dispatched of his mate and child as if they were nothing - mere hiccups in his plan - and moved on to the next female, whom was able to bear him a much better litter of four boys.
The pups were only truly treated as children for about the first two months of their lives, then were subjected to harsh treatment abruptly afterwards to make them stronger and more savage. It was imprinted upon them at an early age that it was every wolf for themselves; that nothing in life comes easy, therefore if you want something, you have to take it by force, no matter who or what gets in your way. To further encourage such a mindset, he often made examples of whichever pup he thought was "doing it right", displaying clear favoritism and making it obvious he expected them to compete... and so they did. From that point onward, the boys were fiercely fighting with one another, all trying to one up each other and earn their father's approval, each wanting to be the best. With this, as Singe had hoped, they quickly learned what it was to lust for blood, to aim for their goals, and let no one (not even your own relatives) stand in your way. Family bonds, friendships, mere acquaintances- none of these had any meaning unless you were using them to gain power, or to strive towards a common goal. They were to be ruthlessly selfish, yet at the same time, loyal and obedient to their group effort so long as there were benefits in the end. Of course, no matter what lesson he taught them and what views he wanted them to have towards the outside world, they were to ALL obediently follow him no matter what- disobedience was not tolerated.
Being the smallest, all three of his brothers had almost instantly agreed to kick Dolokov to the bottom of the chain. They often ganged up on him and tried to force him into submission by whatever means necessary, but he was not so easily put down. He seemed to be born with an abnormal flare in him- with no outside encouragement, he was highly confident in himself and possibly had more drive and determination than all three of his brothers put together. Of the four, he seemed to inherit most of his father's vision and had far too much faith in himself and the future to be stopped before he even started. After numerous attempts from his siblings and being beaten down more times than he could count, one by one, he eventually managed to find ways of overpowering them, mostly using his speed and smaller, more flexible frame to his advantage. Despite what they had originally thought, Dolokov's siblings ended up having to bow to him as the mightier sibling, earning him a special place in the eyes of his father.
Now, as the favored child of the litter, Dolokov was treated like a prince above his siblings, only further contributing to his ego and causing the wolf to develop a narcissistic mentality. After being treated so highly for such a long time, even after they all grew into adulthood, his "power" started going to his head, and he became more reckless with his actions. He soon began to believe himself far more important than his siblings, and progressively became more snappish and critical with them, just to further assert his dominance and prove who was on top, even when it wasn't necessary. Singe did nothing to stop the young male's actions of course; instead, he'd often look on with a concealed smirk of pride, believing his son was just shaping up to be the rightfully powerful leader he had promised to be.
As more time passed, Dolokov's behavior only got worse. Now, instead of believing he deserved power because he was above everyone else, he became obsessive over it and started to fear losing his status. This fear grew so much that, one day, when Singe decided to try and add to the army with another litter, Dolokov formed a plan to sneak in and kill them so they wouldn't grow to be threats. He planned to wait until his mother was asleep and kill them, then bring in a fox he had killed earlier and act as if the fox had been attacking. This did not go as planned however, for his mother woke up and tried to alert the others to what was happening. Panicking, he killed her too, feeling no mercy or remorse, since he and his siblings had been isolated from her at a young age and only regarded her as the one that birthed them. Of course, even if he'd so easily moved on from his previous female, Singe would not be very happy to find out his mate - whom was capable of bearing very strong children - had been killed.
Thankfully, he'd been able to silence his mother before his siblings and father could be alerted, but he knew that when they did wake, he'd have no explanation for what had happened... A fox would never be strong enough to kill an adult she-wolf, especially not if Dolokov was the one left to guard her. Fearing for his life and his power... he simply fled. Fled from the den, into the night, far from his family, and into his new life as a loner.
Now a freed wolf, he had time to come to terms with what he had done, where he had gone wrong, who he was, who he wanted to be, and how he could start anew. Not as a better wolf, but simply as a... more careful one. He'd take what he learned from his father and mash it together with what he learned from fleeing the corpse of his mother to create a wiser version of himself. Oh, he was still completely full of himself and far too impatient to wait around for what he wanted, but he did swear to never let any wisp of power he may gain go to his head again. At least... Not until he was sure it wouldn't turn against him. He eventually discovered the Light Pack and naturally jumped right in with a grin; a war seemed the perfect scenario to exercise his skills, and furthermore, hiding amongst the ranks of his pack would hide his trail from his remaining "family", who may or may not be hunting him down. When joining the pack, he took it easy so as not to become power crazy again, aiming for the lowly ranking of Pawn, and swearing loyalty to the cause so as to gain respect among his peers. He would protect them, serve them, brave terrifying things for them, even charm them with his well-worded speech, all for the hopes that one day, he'll have them bowing at his paws.
